How To Land More Clients
This photography business is VERY hard. We take the pictures, edit the pictures and then we post them on social media in hopes to get bookings from new clients and aside from that we have to do our own marketing, branding, engaging with people on multiple platform, and so much more. But what about when you’re trying to expand your brand into a new field of photography, like real estate or commercial photography, but all you have is family portraits and infant pictures? So here you are telling people to book you for their product photoshoot or real estate, but when they ask to see work you’ve done, you have that slight feeling of embarrassment because you know you have nothing in that line of photography to show. We miss so much money by not having anything to show a potentially new client.
I’m tired of having that embarrassed feeling and missing out on opportunities so I decided to create my own product shoots. This is a way for you to REALLY show people your talent! It’s your creativity and no one limiting your creative vision.
I LOVE these new shoes that I bought from Gab’s for only $17. Yes, they were ONLY $17!! I decided to do a product shoot with them so that I could have commercial images in my portfolio. This is just one of many shoots that I’ll be creating over the next 30 days.
Coming Up With A Look
After I decide what look I want to go with, I began setting up my scene. I know a lot of those Google images are done with expensive lights and scenes, but I worked with what I had. Don’t laugh at my Superhero PJs.
I knew that I wanted to light the back of the shoe so I set up a speedlight with a beauty dish.
The best way to set up lighting when you have multiple lights, is to set up each light one at a time.
After setting up the light from behind, I set up the overhead light.
Here are the final edits!!
All-in-all we as CREATIVES have to create the content in order to attract new clients. If you want to do weddings, set up a mock wedding shoot, if you want to do infant portraits, take pictures of a friend’s baby FOR FREE!
It’s our job to showcase to the world, what we’re capable of doing. If you’re complaining about not getting booked or not getting engagement on social media, analyze what you post. Are you only posting bland work that you’ve done for a client? Are you posting creative ideas that you’ve done in your spare time?
