Photographer Portfolio
Advice:
It's completely normal to worry about not liking the photos of a new photographer, but the best way to put this fear to rest is by taking a close look at their photo portfolio. When you look through a photographer's portfolio, you'll be able to get a sense of their style and the types of photos they typically take. Be sure to look for consistency in their portfolio and ask to see full galleries from past shoots if need be. If you are wanting to book an infant portrait session but don’t see any infant portraits then maybe that photographer is better suited for a different type of photography. Not every photographer does EVERY genre of photography and some may be better suited than others. I know I’m not best suited for babies and kids because I don’t provide the baby/kid props nor do I know the little tricks to get kids to cooperate. Checking their portfolio can help you determine if they're a good fit for you and your needs. If you're still unsure, consider reaching out to the photographer to schedule a consultation or ask for references. It's also important to communicate your vision for the shoot with the photographer, so they can understand what you're looking for and ensure that you're happy with the final results.

Photographer Testimonials
Advice
It's common to fear being judged during a photoshoot, especially if you're not used to being in front of the camera. To alleviate this fear, look for a non-judgmental photographer who is supportive and encouraging throughout their blog and/or social media post. One of the best ways to address this fear is by getting testimonials from associates who you or someone you know has worked with that photographer before. Whether that be on their website, Yelp, etc. or on social media, people love to share their experience when it’s great. Testimonials can give you a good sense of the photographer's personality and how they work with their clients. If you're still worried, consider reaching out to the photographer to discuss your concerns and get a sense of their approach. Remember, a good photographer should always make you feel comfortable and at ease even before the photoshoot is even booked.

Advice
Money can be a touchy subject for many people, and it's not uncommon to worry about overspending when hiring a new photographer. The best way to address this fear is by looking at a photographer's pricing information upfront. Many photographers will have their pricing information available on their website, so you can get a sense of what you'll be paying before you even book a shoot. Look for a photographer who provides a detailed breakdown of their pricing and packages, so you can make an informed decision. But be very wary of photographers who are significantly cheaper than others in the market, as this can often indicate a lack of experience or quality. If you're still unsure, consider reaching out to the photographer to discuss your budget and see if they can work with you to find a solution that fits your needs. Remember that photography is an investment, and the photos you receive will be cherished for a lifetime.

Advice
It's completely normal to worry about not feeling confident during a photo shoot. I’ve photographed 10+yr experienced models who say they still get a little nervous before a session. But there are ways to overcome this fear. One option is to look for a photographer who offers posing tips or guidance during the shoot. This can help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Another option is to bring a friend or family member with you to the shoot for support and/or be your hype person!! Remember, a good photographer should always make you feel comfortable and help bring out your best self in the portraits.
When looking for a new photographer, the best thing you can do is take your time and do your research. Look at their photo portfolio, read through testimonials from previous clients, and check out their pricing information upfront. If you have specific concerns, don't be afraid to reach out to the photographer directly and discuss them. Remember, a good photographer should always make you feel comfortable and at ease before and during the session, and should help bring out your best self. So go ahead and take that leap of faith in finding a new photographer that will capture memories you can cherish for years to come!
